Size: The Citywide Skatepark Plan recommends a 6,000 square foot skatespot for Roosevelt Skate Earth Art Park.

Approximate Cost: $192,000 (at $32.00 per square foot)

Status

The skate spot was originally proposed in 2002 as part of the Roosevelt/Green Lake Art Corridor project.

Image a unique community gathering space, with a balanced blend of active and passive recreation elements, nestled under a noisy freeway overpass, within easy walking distance of surrounding neighborhoods, businesses and amenities.

In cooperation with the Roosevelt/Green Lake Art Corridor project, building a skateboarding spot in the location shown above would help provide a gateway for pedestrians along Ravenna Blvd and 8th Avenue NE, and reconnect links between the neighborhoods that were broken in the 1960's when Interstate 5 was built.

In the proposed Art Corridor, there is an opportunity to combine a variety of these types of features with passive landscaping elements in the Earthwork Park to create a complimentary public space that would attract a variety of park users. While maintaining a safe and accessible pedestrian pathway through the area, the construction of a skate spot would create a vibrant and welcoming space to promote positive recreational activity.
